Grant Peterkin takes dominant pole at Castle Combe

Michael Grant Peterkin took a dominant HSCC Formula Ford pole in damp but drying conditions at Castle Combe this morning.

Grant Peterkin set a time of 1m15.115s in his 1967 Brabham BT21, over 1.5 seconds clear of his nearest rivals having jumped to the top of the timesheets early on in the session.

Timothy Brise will start on the front row in his 1971 Merlyn Mk20 after setting a time of 1m16.748s to beat Clive Richards’ fastest lap by just 0.030s.

Richards – also driving a Merlyn Mk20 – was able to qualify in third place despite completing fewer laps.

Castle Combe regular Alan Slater will line up alongside Richards in fourth in his 1969 Nike Mk4.

Nelson Rowe qualified fifth in a Crossle 20F with a time just under half-a-second behind Slater.

Kit Lawson completes the grid in his Lotus 31 and will start the race in sixth position.

The race is scheduled to start at 12:50 and is non-championship event.
