Bryce Aron added to Oldfield’s Festival line-up

Bryce Aron is the latest driver to be confirmed for the 2019 Aimshop.com Formula Ford Festival, after Oldfield Motorsport announced that he will partner 2018 Festival winner Josh Smith.

Oldfield has confirmed that for the end-of-season event at Brands Hatch, taking place on October 26 and 27, 16-year-old American Aron will partner Smith who, after a season racing with Tolman Motorsport in the British GT championship, returns to the team to try to defend his crown

After graduating from karting at the end of last year, Aron has spent 2019 racing in the F1600 Championship Series in America with K-Hill Motorsports, where he finished third in the championship, achieving eight podium finishes.

Aron will also be eligible for the British Formula 4 test prize, which will be awarded to the highest-placed teenager at this year’s Festival.

“Oldfield Motorsport are delighted to announce that 16-year-old American racer, Bryce Aron, and British GT McLaren driver, Josh Smith, will compete in the 2019 BRSCC Formula Ford Festival for team at Brands Hatch, Kent, on the 26/27 October 2019,” a team statement said. 

“The team are excited to welcome back the 2018 winner Josh Smith, after his season with McLaren and Tolman Motorsport in British GT, and Bryce has been competing in the FRP F1600 single seater championship in the States this year with K-Hill Motorsports.

“Josh has been working hard with McLaren as part of their Young Driver Development programme, and working closely with the Tolman Motorsport team, achieving multiple pole positions, podiums and a great victory at Brands Hatch in August.

“Bryce has been racking up the podiums and fastest laps in the F1600 championship too, in a Championship that provides racers an ideal platform to showcase their talents and abilities, but most importantly, to learn.

“Bryce caught our attention with his performances and his results, which are very impressive, considering his age and his level of experience, compared to his rivals.

“The entry numbers for the event are growing by the day, with some high-profile and experienced drivers competing in the event, it will offer Bryce a fantastic opportunity to pitch himself against some of the best Formula Ford drivers in the world, and Josh an opportunity again to compete for victory.”
