Luke Cooper takes pole position at the BRSCC National at Brands Hatch

Luke Cooper will start the final round of the BRSCC Avon Tyres National FF1600 on pole position at Brands Hatch.

The Swift Cooper driver recorded the fastest lap in the first half of the 15-minute session with a time of 50.151 seconds, which wouldn’t be beaten in the remaining nine minutes.

The top nine drivers were separated by half a second. Despite the dry track the times weren’t improved later in the session. Joey Foster will start alongside Cooper on the front row.

Michael Eastwell – who was the pole sitter last time out at Silverstone – was the early pace setter and will start his Kevin Mills Racing machine in third, alongside Rory Smith in his B-M Racing Medina.

Spike Kohlbecker is the first of the Cliff Dempsey Racing team and will start fifth ahead of team-mates Jonathan Browne and James Clarke, the three drivers all in contention for second place in the championship.

Chris Middlehurst, whilst trying to improve his time on his last attempt, went off at Clearways, but will start the first race of the weekend eighth on the grid. Team Dolan teammate Jamie Sharp will start behind in ninth.

Max Marzorati is the first of the Club class in tenth place ahead of Michael Macpherson.

The two championship contenders in the Club category will start further back with John Svensson qualifying in 14th and Adam Quartermaine at the back in 17th.
