Luke Cooper takes Champion of Brands title from pole position

Luke Cooper took the Champion of Brands title from pole position after fighting off constant pressure from Michael Eastwell and Rory Smith, who finished within half a second of the leader.

Cooper made a good start in his Swift Cooper to maintain his lead from pole, but dropped down to second position behind Eastwell as the pair came up against backmarkers for the first time.

Ultimately, Eastwell lost out to both Cooper and Smith, with the three drivers pressuring each other throughout the race. First Cooper got past, and then Smith.

Smith finished second, after losing and then regaining position to Eastwell. He made several attempts to pass Cooper again during the 18-lap contest but was unable to get past.

Thomas Cappezzone finished in fourth place, nine seconds behind the leading pack, beating Davide Meloni and Max Marzorati in fifth and sixth.

Adam Fathers’ strong day continues as he maintained his good qualifying position to finish seventh after a somewhat lonely but strong race.

Paul Mason and Richard Mendoza were the final two cars to finish on the lead lap in eighth and ninth.

Innes Hickman and Ben Hadfield finished four laps down, with Hadfield suffering an electrical issue. Mark Adkins was unable to start the race.
