Michael Moyers will return to Kevin Mills Racing for an attempt at a third successive Walter Hayes Trophy triumph, and enter BRSCC National FF1600’s Silverstone round in September as preparation.
The winner of the 2017 and ’18 editions of the end-of-season event at Silverstone will make a return to the BRSCC Avon Tyres National championship, where he has contested part-seasons with the team for the last two years, as a “warm up” for the WHT.
Moyers has not raced in FF1600 since his second WHT triumph, and the September 14-15 weekend will mark his first time back in the Spectrum 011C which he plans to equal Joey Foster and Peter Dempsey’s record of three WHT wins.
“Pleased to announce Michael Moyers will be returning to KMR at the Silverstone National FF1600 round in September,” KMR said on Facebook.
“He will be using it as a warm up for the Walter Hayes Trophy where he will attempt to go for three Grand Final wins in a row.”
Moyers won the 2018 WHT in a controlling fashion, during a weekend in which all of KMR’s cars looked particularly strong, heading Team Dolan’s Matthew Cowley and KMR team-mate Jordan Dempsey.
Unlike his maiden win the year before, Moyers led pretty much throughout the Final, only briefly losing the lead on one lap to Don Hardman Racing’s Foster when he ran wide at Brooklands.
Other drivers likely to feature in KMR’s 2019 WHT line-up include its usual National FF1600 rota of Neil Maclennan, Michael Macpherson and recent signing Scott Huntley, alongside the already confirmed Michael Eastwell.
