BRSCC Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford championship leader Jack Wolfenden scored pole position for the second Oulton Park meeting’s opening race by dominating qualifying.
The Myerscough College driver set an early benchmark of 1m48.971s, and continued to find time during the session, setting a best time of 1m48.027s on his final lap.
B-M Racing’s Tom McArthur was Wolfenden’s nearest challenger throughout, qualifying half a second behind Wolfenden, with team-mate Davide Meloni moving up to third following a late effort.
Chris Chisnall, a champion in NorthWest FFord over a decade ago, qualified fourth on his return after a several year absence – racing the absent David McArthur’s Medina – with Nigel Dolan fifth.
James Hadfield, son of historic racer and preparer Simon Hadfield, was sixth fastest ahead of Scottish FFord regular Matthew Chisholm and the last of B-M Racing’s four drivers, Neil McArthur.
Matt Bedford secured Super Classic pole with the ninth fastest time overall, ahead of Nick Barnes and Super Classic points leader Ian Schofield.
