Graham Brunton Racing will field its two cars in this weekend’s Champion of Brands as it begins preparations for the Formula Ford Festival in October.
Logan Hannah and Steve Barlow will take part in the weekend’s two races as well as tomorrow’s full-day test.
“It’s all about track time for Logan and Steve and making sure they get up to speed with Brands Hatch, as the plan is to head back down for the Festival at the end of the season,” GBR boss Graham Brunton told FF1600website.
“Because it’s a short track, it’s the best preparation for our drivers as they can potentially rack up 80 or 90 laps in the test.
GBR made it clear that its focus was on getting as much time on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit ahead of the Festival and actively turned down racing against Avon Tyres National FF1600 competition at Croft this weekend.
“Obviously, the National guys are at Croft this weekend and that’s a far shorter drive for us than Brands, but for us there’s no point doing that round as it’s nothing like Brands.
“Logan has shown great progress in her first year of FF1600 this season and we want her to get as much running on the circuit down there as she can. For us, track time is more important so we are concentrating on that.”
Hannah, who made her FF1600 debut in last season’s finale at Knockhill, has recorded two podium finishes so far this season in Scottish Formula Ford, a second and a third in the first reverse layout meeting of the year.
Barlow has a best finish of fourth, achieved during the same meeting and recorded a 24th placed finish in the Last Chance race in the Festival last year.
