Rick Morris has taken pole position for the first race in the Luna Logistics Classic Formula Ford Championship round at Thruxton.
Mike Gardner (Crossle 30/32F) had been sat at the top of the timesheet for a large portion of the qualifying session before Morris, in his Royale RP29, went nearly eight tenths faster, setting a time of 1m25.290s.
Jordan Harrison set his best time of 1m24.755s late on in the session in his Lola T504E to get him ahead of Gardner to take second despite being half a second down on Morris’ best time.
Tim Harvey (Van Diemen RF81) found himself a second off the pace with the fourth fastest time, ahead of Kevin Mansell in fifth.
Mark Armstrong was sixth in his Van Diemen RF80, a full second faster than Stuart Kestenbaum who was seventh with a best time of 1m27.616s.
Steve Pearce was a tenth behind Kestenbaum in eighth with Scott Guthrie and Craig Currie rounding out the top ten.
Will Zanelli missed out on the top ten by two tenths of a second in his JSR Team prepared Van Diemen RF80 and he will start ahead of David Lowe and Ben Hadfield.
