Jackson claims another Historic pole at Brands Hatch

Cameron Jackson claimed a dominant HSCC Historic Formula Ford 1600 sponsored by Carless Race Fuels pole position at Brands Hatch, beating Ed Thurston by almost half a second.

Jackson, driving a Winkelmann WDF2, posted a time of 1m38.065s to claim pole position ahead of Thurston.

Championship leader Jackson, who has won every race so far this season, set the early pace in the 15-minute session and was not once displaced from the top of the timesheets.

Thurston, in a Merlyn Mk20A, finished second with a 1m38.542s and holding off Classic Team Merlyn team-mate Benjamin Tusting.

The pair were separated by eight-tenths of a second.

Linton Stutley was fifth with Richard Tarling (Jayman T2) sixth and Clive Richards (Merlyn Mk20) in seventh with the triple less than a tenth apart.

Richards was also first in class as he beat Ross Drybrough by two-tenths of a second.

Daniel Stanzl, driving an Elden Mk8, was eighth and 1.185s after setting a time of 1m40.054s. He was ahead of Will Nuthall (Jamun T2) by a tenth of a second.

Brian Morris set a time of 1m40.265s to qualify in 11th place with Tiff Needell in 12th.

Rob Smith was 13th with Ted Pearson and Greg Thornton making up the rest of the top 15 in the 31-car field.
