Felix Fisher wins CCRC opener from pole

Felix Fisher won from pole in the opening race of the Castle Combe Racing Club FF1600 Championship sponsored by Melksham Motor Spares at Castle Combe.

Felix Fisher led from pole at the start, but not before he had to reverse on the grid to correctly slot into his grid position before the race start.

Josh Fisher stormed into second at the start after getting a quicker start than the front row, he was followed by Roger Orgee, Luke Cooper and Matt Rivett.

At the end of the opening lap, Felix Fisher went wide out of Camp Corner and did well to keep it out of the wall however lost the lead to his brother Josh into the first corner on the second lap.

However Felix Fisher took back the lead later in the lap, leading a pack of four drivers, with Rivett a distant fifth.

Josh Fisher made a failed move on Felix Fisher at Quarry on the last lap, it dropped him to fourth, and allowed Orgee to take second, while Cooper took the final place on the podium.

Josh Fisher had to settle for fourth, just 1.134s off his race-winning brother Felix.

After being dropped by the top four, Rivett had a lonely race in fifth place but finished over 10s ahead of Tom Hawkins in sixth.

Chris Acton had a busy race having started ninth, he was able to work his way up to sixth but was overtaken by both Hawkins and David Cobbold, however he was able to retake seventh from Cobbold by the end of the race.

Paul Mason came home ninth with Harry Cobbold rounding out the top 10.

Paul Barnes, Shain Macklin, Ben Edwards, Matthew Hallam and Lloyd Hopes finished just outside the top 10 after a race long battle with all five finishing within two seconds of each other.

Peter Hannam was the sole retirement from the race.
