Felix Fisher claims first CCRC poles of the season

Felix Fisher dominated qualifying for the opening round of the Castle Combe FF1600 Championship sponsored by Melksham Motor Spares, taking pole position for both races.

Fisher took control of the session early on jumping into the 1m10s bracket before anyone else. He later improved to a 1m10.309s which would not be beaten for the rest of the session. His second fastest lap was just 0.002s slower and earned him the double-pole.

Behind, the battle was close with Luke Cooper, Josh Fisher and Roger Orgee all vying for the front row, with Cooper coming out on top with Josh Fisher in third and Orgee in fourth. Their second fastest laps also provided this order, meaning they will line-up in the same order for the second race.

Matt Rivett and Tom Hawkins completed the third row both within a quarter of a second of each other.

The fourth row is made up of the Cobbold brothers with Harry Cobbold coming out on top in seventh and David Cobbold in eighth, whilst also taking class C pole.

Chris Acton qualified in ninth place, ahead of Paul Mason, who rounded out the top 10 and took class B honours.

F1 Commentator Ben Edwards took 11th place with Paul Barnes hot on his heels just 0.041s behind. Lloyd Hopes was 13th the Greenwood Engineering Swift 93, followed by Matthew Hallam in the sole Spectrum 011c.

Shaun Macklin followed in 15th only 0.014s behind with Bob Higgins almost as close behind, just 0.018s adrift. Steve Bracegirdle was 17th quickest in his Wayne Poole Racing Van Diemen 89 from team-mate James Colborn.

Harrison Took 19th in the sole Lola T50E with Alex Rivett taking 20th in the Swift SC92. Peter Hannam took class D pole in the Nike Mk16 with Alan Slater following behind in the fellow class D Nike Mk 4 machine.
