B-M Racing’s Tom McArthur will miss today’s first BRSCC Avon Tyres Northern Formula Ford 1600 race at Oulton Park after an accident in qualifying.
The younger of the McArthur brothers crashed at Old Hall Corner early in the session before he was able to set a time.
“I ran wide onto the bumps, and then it felt like something broke on the rear and pitched me into the barriers,” McArthur, who was unharmed in the crash, told FF1600website.
The team is currently repairing the car but, because of the tight schedule at the Oulton Park opener, will only be able to get back out in time for the second race later this afternoon.
“It looks like I’ve given the team too much work to do”, added McArthur. “We will try to make race one, but it’s looking like we won’t be out until race two”.
McArthur, who is aiming to compete in the full season of Northern FF1600 this year after limited appearances last year – which included two wins at Anglesey – was tipped to be in podium contention in today’s opening round.
