Jordan Gronkowski took his second Scottish Formula Ford win of the day at Knockhill, despite losing the lead early on to Jamie Thorburn.
Gronkowski started on pole courtesy of his race one victory, but was bettered by Thorburn off the line.
The lead was Gronkowski’s again at the end of the opening lap thanks to a sensational overtake around the outside of the hairpin, and thereon the Jordan Gronkowski Racing driver was untouchable.
Thorburn finished a distant 7.217 seconds behind, with Kenneth Cowie ensuring the race one podium was repeated in third.
Cowie had another anonymous race on his return to FF1600, but stayed out of trouble to take his second podium of the day.
Neil Broome had challenged Cowie early on, but allowed his rival to edge away after understeering wide at the hairpin on lap three. From there, he kept his nose clean to beat Matthew Chisholm home to fourth place.
Chisholm had enjoyed a close fight with Graham Brunton Racing’s Logan Hannah throughout the race, with Hannah initially holding the advantage.
On both laps four and five, Chisholm dove down the inside of his rival into the hairpin, only for Hannah to take a tighter line and slip pass on the entry to Duffis. The pair’s battle was defused when Hannah slid off the road at the hairpin in the damp conditions and beached her Ray in the gravel trap.
The hairpin therefore became a double yellow zone, but crucially the safety car didn’t make an appearance.
With Hannah out of the race, GBR’s hopes depended on Cameron Thomson, Steve Barlow and Kyle Reid. Thomson stalled off the start line, and in a haste to catch Barlow he spun at the hairpin three laps from home.
On the final lap, Thomson was back under the gearbox of Barlow but lost control and spun off the road when trying to overtake his team-mate into McIntyre’s.
Barlow therefore took sixth ahead of Thomson and Hannah, with the fourth GBR car of Reid retiring with mechanical issues.
