B-M Racing has signed Nicole Woods for the 2019 BRSCC Avon Tyres National Formula Ford 1600 Championship season.
The 22-year-old recently took part in a two-day acclimatisation test at Croft with the team, and shortly afterwards signed up for a full National campaign and selected outings in other championships.
“[We’re] delighted to announce our latest addition to the squad – Nicole Woods,” the team announced on social media.
“Two days testing at Croft saw her gain confidence in her new car and she integrated into the team seamlessly.”
Woods’ previous racing experience has come on horses and motorcycles, but has karted in the past and comes from a family that has been heavily involved in motorsport.
She is believed to be the first female to enter the BRSCC National FF1600 championship in full, and follows Richard Dunwoody and ‘Bentley Boy’ George Duller – to name but two – in switching from jockeying to car racing.
B-M Racing has already signed three drivers in addition to Woods for its 2019 programmes.
Reigning Champion of Oulton Rory Smith will lead the team’s National squad, with brothers Tom and David McArthur focusing on the BRSCC Northern FF1600 championship rounds.
In addition to his Oulton title, Smith was a two-time winner in the National championship last season, Tom McArthur was the Star of Anglesey champion.
