Jamie Sharp joins Dolan for 2019 National season

Jamie Sharp will contest the full BRSCC Avon Tyres National FF1600 season in 2019, joining forces with Team Dolan.

Sharp, who raced in British Formula 4 over the past two seasons under the family-run Sharp Motorsport operation, moves to the highly-competitive Formula Ford world with Bernard Dolan’s title-winning squad.

Dolan won the 2018 National title with Irishman Niall Murray, and last month signed two-time Scottish FF1600 champion Ross Martin for 2019.

Sharp joins the team after a one-off appearance in a winter FFord contest at Anglesey last November, where he finished fifth in the first race and missed out on victory by just 0.157 seconds to Tom McArthur in the second encounter.

“The team had the pleasure of working with Jamie late last year and during that weekend both sides had the opportunity to gauge how we both operate,” said team boss Dolan.

“Jamie was incredibly quick and achieved a podium during that weekend. This will be a good foundation to our 2019 campaign.”

Sharp Motorsport will continue with a testing programme evaluating new drivers for British F4 in 2020, with team owner Joe Sharp saying: “It’s an exciting time for Jamie and the team. Working with Bernard Dolan will be a valuable partnership and we are looking forward to racing with some of the most competitive single-seater drivers in the UK.”

The National FF1600 season begins with a visit to Norfolk’s Snetterton 300 circuit on April 20/21.
