B-M Racing announces first three signings for ’19 season

B-M Racing will retain its 2018 title winners for the upcoming BRSCC Avon Tyres National and Northern Championship seasons, as it reveals its first set of signings for ’19.

Rory Smith, who was Champion of Oulton last year, runner-up in the Northern Post-’89 standings and sixth in National, will lead the team once again.

“We’re very excited to have Rory back with us again,” B-M Racing team boss Andy Brickles told FF1600website.

“The end of last year we showed what we can do with the wins at Donington Park, the pace at the [Formula Ford] Festival and at the Walter Hayes Trophy with a pole, a win in the heat and the fight through the field in the final.

“We are very eager to pick up where we left off and hopefully fight for those wins again.”

Joining Smith will be the McArthur brothers, who both won races in ’18.

The elder of the two brothers, David, was Champion of Oulton runner-up last year and third in the Northern Post-’89 standings, where he had the joint most wins. He’s been racing with the team since its creation in 2015, mostly part-time due to work commitments, and will be competing in selected BRSCC rounds in a brand new Medina Sport BH19 chassis.

Younger brother Tom was the Star of Anglesey champion last season, although did not compete in FF1600 until midway through the year due to the financial after-effects of a crash in the WHT in 2017.

He won immediately on his return, and then added a runner-up spot in the Historic Final at the FFord Festival and finished 10th in the WHT final after a hugely impressive run. His racing programme for ’19 will likely focus on Northern rounds, although there is no commitment to any particular dates having just become a father.

B-M Racing is expected to be running at least one other driver in a season-long campaign.
