James Clarke will make a guest appearance for Cliff Dempsey Racing in this weekend’s BRSCC Avon Tyres National Formula Ford 1600 round at Croft.
Suffolk local Clarke, 18, has competed in both the BRSCC National and Scottish FF1600 championships this year for Graham Millar’s MCK Racing team. He earned his first podium position in the Scottish series at Knockhill at the beginning of August, finishing third.
The former Clubmans and Historic Touring Car driver will race CDR’s Ray GR16, which was campaigned by Neil MacLennan earlier in the season, and will join CDR regulars Jamie Thorburn, Nico Gruber and Jonathan Browne.
Clarke first tested with the squad last November, and had a second test earlier this year, impressing team boss Cliff Dempsey. The teenager was enthusiastic about his chance with the multiple championship-winning team.
“I am really looking forward to making the most of the opportunity with Cliff Dempsey Racing at one of my favourite tracks and look forward to a successful weekend.”
Clarke looks set to concentrate on the BRSCC National series for the remainder of the year after announcing that he will not complete the Scottish season.
