Avon Tyres National FF1600 Championship’s third race at Knockhill has been postponed, following an incident during the opening lap which caused a red flag.
A safety car was deployed when Matt Round-Garrido went off into the gravel at the opening corner, but a concertina effect on the pit straight led to two separate accidents and a red flag.
Niall Murray and Sebastian Melrose both had to take evasive action, with Murray’s Van Diemen ending up in the wall on the pit straight.
Murray was taken to the medical centre for precautionary checks, but Team Dolan has confirmed Murray was fine following the accident.
Melrose’s Graham Brunton Racing-prepared Ray suffered extensive front-end damage and faces a race against time have his car repaired before a restarted race three.
Organisers have confirmed the postponed race will be restarted later in the day at approximately 5:30pm.
