Ferguson on pole for Festival Masters race

John Ferguson secured pole position for the Formula Ford Festival Masters race by 0.7s in his Kevin Mills Racing Spectrum. Simon Jackson was an excellent second in his classic Javelin, with sometime F3 Cup racer Henry Chart third.

Ferguson set the early pace, initially going a tenth faster than Chart and two tenths clear of Classic race runner-up Rick Morris. Later, though, it was the trio of Ferguson, Jackson and Chart, in a Van Diemen, who battled it out for pole although Ferguson pulled 0.75s clear of Jackson towards the end.

Chart was just 0.002s off a place on the front row, but he was 0.4s ahead of Miles Johnston’s Ray. Morris was fifth, in spite of a late off at Clearways, ahead of Swedish visitor Thomas Johansson.
